This Quiz: Ananias and Sapphira

1.) Immediately before the story of Ananias and Sapphira, the Bible tells of a Levite from Cyprus who sold his land and brought the full proceeds from the sale and gave it to the apostles. Who was he?

2.) What relation was Ananias to Sapphira?
           They were neighbors.
           They were brother and sister.
           They were husband and wife.
           They were not related.

3.) What did Ananias and Sapphira sell?
           Some land that they owned.
           Gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Doves and small birds for temple sacrifices.
A possession, we are not told what it was.

4.) Who said to Ananias, "Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part? While it remained, was it not thine own? And after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God."
Peter, James, and John each asked one question.

5.) When Ananias heard these words, what did he say?
He explained that he needed the money to pay for his father's funeral.
He explained that he had been robbed on his way to the temple.
He claimed that he was innocent and that it was Sapphira's idea.
           Nothing: he dropped dead.

6.) What did the young men do in response to what Ananias did?
They went to look for Sapphira and bring her before the Sanhedrin.
They wound him up in cloth, and carried him out, and buried him.
They passed a collection plate to help with his expenses.
They went out for three days to search for the robbers.

7.) How long after this did Sapphira come in?
           The bible doesn't say.
           Three hours.
           Four hours.
           Five hours.

8.) What did Peter say to Sapphira?
Nothing - he was too upset.
He explained to her that Ananias had been taken to hospital.
He asked her about the price of the possession that they sold.
He thanked her for her generous donation to the work.

9.) Who did Peter say that they had tempted?
The saints, to outdo them in their giving.
           The Spirit of the Lord.

10.) What more did Peter say to her in response to her reply?
He asked her for a donation to help with Ananias' hospital expenses.
He told her that the people at the door had just buried her husband and they would bury her too.
He gave her his condolences for the loss of her father-in-law, and asked the church to pray.

11.) What did she say in response to Peter?
           Nothing - she dropped dead.
She told him she would go straight to the hospital to Ananias.
She explained that they had been robbed on their way to the temple.
She claimed that she was innocent, and that it was all Ananias' idea.

12.) How did the church react to all of these events?
Great fear came upon them, and everyone who heard about it.
They really tried hard to outdo each other in their generosity.
They gathered an army of 300 men to search for the robbers.
They gave Sapphira 5 loaves and 2 fishes so that she and Ananias had food for the week.
